LiveJournal isn't working. Is this any way to treat a girl on her seventeenth birthday?
This is ridiculous.
But...hurrah, happy birthday to me. :D A friend and I are going out for lunch and then Snakes on a Plane after that, now that I can legally watch rated-R movies without darling mother tagging along. Excellent.
I am going to kill LiveJournal, and school starts tomorrow. Alas.
Your Basic Information
Hi, I'm Virginia. Most
people don't call me that because, guess what, my name isn't actually
Virginia. However, it is something all but the most moronic can
pronounce as my actual first name gives people a headache at the
expense of my personal humiliation. Obviously, I don't find that very
fun. I don't think anyone does.
I am, by citizenship, both Canadian and America, born to Chinese parents, and nurse what is frankly a very unhealthy love for Europe and France, especially.
The Joy That is Both Formal and Informal Education
I am in the process of finishing off my last year of high school and applying to colleges. I'll be applying to Georgetown University and University of Chicago early action, and other institutions that shall be receiving something from me are Pennsylvania State University, University of Pittsburgh, Claremont McKenna, Johns Hopkins, Harvard, Yale, Pomona, and Amherst. I hope to major in international relations, learn French, and perfect my Chinese. Be warned: you will doubtless read many entries about school and college in this journal, though I'm really not sure what this Vox is going to be used for.
I am what some people call a nerd. I like using British spelling and the French Revolutionary Calendar on my school assignments, though I doubt my teachers have caught on yet. Some of my favourite subjects include history, international relations/political science, and chemistry. I would like English more if I didn't have to read that damned literature.
Random Facts
I rabidly love the Philadelphia Eagles. And speaking of the Eagles, I refer to both the American and international variants as football and love them both. My classical piano-trained self has the useless talent of perfect pitch. I work a part-time job at an ice cream store. If you live in the United States, perhaps you've heard of Cold Stone? I love pretty things but, on the whole, am probably more masculine than feminine. I bite my nails and have obsessive-compulsive disorder in some form. I drive a 1996 Toyota Camry, which has clocked over 100,000 miles and counting.
Oh, and I participate in this thing called Harry Potter fandom, but perhaps that is for a different day.
